Abstract

We have seen how the orthographic projection is a valid and useful technique for displaying three-dimensional figures. However, it does not take into account the perspective phenomena of the real world: parallel lines appear to meet on the horizon; an object appears smaller as it recedes into the distance. Techniques for drawing such real situations have been devised by artists over the centuries, but these methods are of little value in computer graphics. Luckily the knowledge of three-dimensional coordinate geometry makes the drawing of objects in perspective relatively straightforward.
