Abstract
Mr Vusković said that the information provided by Dr Nyers and Dr Tardos in their paper was enormously valuable to readers in Latin America who were interested in planning. It helped them to see the nature of the changes in the Hungarian economy in the right perspective. Foreigners had little direct knowledge of what was taking place in Hungary, and often received distorted versions, claiming that Hungary was returning to a capitalist market system. Such reports were used as arguments against economic planning in Latin America. He now saw the meaning of the changes, that they were intended to improve the effectiveness of central regulation of the market, and not to lead to a return to a spontaneous market economy.
