Abstract

I have already, in a Letter which I doubt not has been read at some of your Meetings, briefly conveyed to you my feelings and opinions on the scandalous proceedings by which the Peace of our town has lately been disturbed. But considering a rigid adherence to truth of the utmost importance in all political discussions, and especially when the character of individuals is implicated, I have waited to be put fully in possession of the facts previous to the publication of any remarks on the conduct of the ruffianly upstarts who have been guilty of the gross outrage of introducing into a peaceful and orderly town a band of hired bludgeon men to insult and abuse the unoffending people.
