Sexual Reproduction

As in so many of their other features, fungi are very varied and versatile in their methods of sexual reproduction. All these methods, however, involve the union of two compatible nuclei which may be carried in motile or nonmotile gametes, in gametangia, or in somatic cells of the thallus Three processes occur in sequence during sexual reproduction: plasmogamy, karyogamy and meiosis.
