Abstract

‘Peacekeeping’, an important adjunct of diplomacy, pre-dated the creation of the United Nations, and the UN is still by no means the only body under whose authority the activity is conducted. Nevertheless, peacekeeping under the aegis of the UN is now the principal species of this key institution and it is, therefore, this which will be the chief focus of this chapter.
