Abstract
It is rarely enough to ‘rescue’ abused children by removing them from the source of abuse or to ‘reform’ parents. If abused children are to be helped, they must be released from the misconceptions, false learning and negative emotions described in the previous chapters. These can imprison them in a world of fear, mistrust, self-denigration and isolation long after the abuse itself has stopped.
