Generic Environmental Management Strategies
Continuing on from the discussion in the previous chapter of how environmental protection is related to normative management and the overall objectives of the firm, this chapter will explore the formulation of strategies which take environmental protection into account. In order to facilitate this, a ‘criteria grid’ will be developed based on the concept of generic strategy. This will be followed by a systematic theoretical analysis of three types of strategy which can result from different possible initial positions. Finally, these strategic alternatives will also be analysed from a comparative empirical perspective.
