  • understand the connection between frequency and pitch of sound

  • know how to study sounds with a microphone and cathode ray oscilloscope

  • know how to measure the frequency of sound

  • know how to measure the speed of sound in air

  • know that the speed of sound is different in different gases

  • be able to calculate the wavelength of sound using the wave equation.
