Abstract
The professional and political reasons for the inclusion, as a high priority, of clinical supervision on the national nursing agenda are discussed and the main ‘drivers’ of current activity in clinical supervision explored. Various definitions of clinical supervision are offered, and the principles and ground rules necesssary for its effective implementation and anticipated outcomes are described.
