Abstract

Sense of smell is a complex sense which relies on the excitation of the olfactory epithelium in the roof of the nasal cavity. Taste sensation on the tongue is limited to sweet, sour, bitter and salt. Every other permutation of taste is determined by smelling the substance at the same time as it is presented to the tongue.
