Abstract
Token ring networks were developed by several manufacturers, the most prevalent being the IBM Token Ring. Token ring networks cope well with high network traffic loadings. They were at one time extremely popular but their popularity has since been overtaken by Ethernet. Token ring networks have, in the past, suffered from network management problems and poor network fault tolerance.
