Abstract

Between 1500 and 1200 BCE Aryan tribes invaded India and settled in the Punjab. They composed hymns which make up the Rig Veda or ‘Wisdom of the Verses’, the oldest work of literature in an Indo-European language. It is also the oldest living religious literature of the world.
