    explain what is meant by the terms ‘science’ and ‘scientific method’;

    discuss the use of scientific method in psychology;

    consider alternatives to the scientific approach to psychology;

  4. 4.

    explain what is meant by cultural bias in psychological theory and research studies;

  5. 5.

    identify ways in which racial and gender bias may affect psychological theory and research studies; and

  6. 6.

    suggest ways in which cultural bias may be overcome.
