Abstract
The special properties of semiconductors are utilised to make a wide variety of electronic components, ranging from diodes to microprocessors. A detailed understanding of one of the simplest semiconductor devices, the pn junction diode, is an important prelude to a study of more complicated devices, and it is here that we begin.
