## Abstract

Probability is the study of **events** which may or may not happen. The value given to the *likelihood* of an event happening is called the probability of the event, and is usually expressed as a fraction or decimal in the range 0 (impossible) to 1 (certainty). [Sometimes the fraction is changed to a *percentage*.] In order to calculate this numerical value, we need to consider possible outcomes of the situation under consideration.
