Probability is the study of events which may or may not happen. The value given to the likelihood of an event happening is called the probability of the event, and is usually expressed as a fraction or decimal in the range 0 (impossible) to 1 (certainty). [Sometimes the fraction is changed to a percentage.] In order to calculate this numerical value, we need to consider possible outcomes of the situation under consideration.
