Abstract
Our idea of information is deeply embedded in our knowledge culture. We commonly associate information with expressions of knowledge. This association is now so close that many people regard information as being in expressions, and operations performed on expressions are equated with knowledge processes. Many believe we now have overt explanations which can be formed into information systems realised in technology. Machines made to perform operations on expressions are regarded as knowledge processors, or intelligent information processors.
