The Inclusion of Personality Trait Based Adaptive Interfaces into Computer Based Learning and Training Environments

Summary

Over the last few years wider access students have been recruited onto manufacturing engineering degrees at the University of Salford. These students have a large variation in learning styles which are related to personality, intelligence and aptitude. In order for Computer Aided Learning material (CAL) to be effective it was realised that these attributes had to be taken into account when developing new material. The paper initially looks at the principles and features of adaptive interfaces before identifying work at the university aimed at introducing adaptive learning material with robot programming as the subject domain.
