Teaching and Learning in Advanced Manufacturing Technologies — A Case Study

Summary

To be effective, advanced manufacturing technologies must be managed with reference to a number a number of business and economic factors, not only those related to the technology concerned. Necessary skills include flexibility in devising new solutions to problems as they arise and an awareness of the impact of decisions across the company. This paper outlines current approaches in teaching and learning in this area and refers to a case study evaluation of innovations introduced to this subject across two schemes of study with ninety students.
