Abstract

In this chapter we look at important resistor circuits, including series circuits, parallel circuits and series-parallel circuits. A grasp of these is vital to a full understanding of electronic and electrical circuits. By the end of this chapter, the reader will be able to Determine the equivalent resistance of a series circuit. Evaluate the equivalent resistance of a parallel circuit. Calculate the resistance of series-parallel circuit. Determine the voltage distribution in a string of series-connected resistors. Compute the way in which current divides between parallel-connected resistors. Use the Wheatstone bridge to determine the value of an unknown resistor. Solve series- and parallel-circuits using BASIC language programs. In this chapter we look at important resistor circuits, including series circuits, parallel circuits and series-parallel circuits. A grasp of these is vital to a full understanding of electronic and electrical circuits.
