Abstract
Social work with lesbians and gay men takes place in a political and social context that inevitably impacts on practice. There have been considerable political and social movements and events that have affected both lesbian and gay communities and social work. Resulting changes, some of them contradictory, have opened up the possibility for social workers, their agencies, and social work educational establishments to re-evaluate their service delivery to lesbian and gay individuals and communities.
