Having completed your audit, the next step is to decide whether any action needs to be taken. Were your results as you expected? Was everything fine, or were there some areas where you did not comply with the criteria in the standard? Which areas did not comply, and was it by a large enough margin, or in an important enough area for you to need to do something about it? It is at this point that some people begin to consider ‘weighting’ their criteria. This means identifying those criteria that you think are most important, or at least, are more important than others. As you might expect, there is more than one school of thought about weighting criteria.
