Abstract

The days when designers designed and builders built are long gone. Creating a modern building involves a range of specialist design skills which a single architect could not possibly master, even with the help of other members of the professional team such as the services and structural engineers. As a result, many specialist sub-contractors not only provide work and materials — they also design an element of the building.
