A Hypermedia-Based Tutoring System for Education in Mechanical Engineering

This paper presents a hypermedia-based tutoring system for education in mechanical engineering. A conceptual model of hypermedia and its relationship with learning is discussed. Some critical issues during the system development are described in detail such as the system on-line help function, learner control, knowledge representation and integration of AI. The tutoring system is implemented on HyperCard on a Macintosh computer. The methodology achieved during the system development can be widely applied in developing other hypermedia-based systems.
