Abstract

Figures 7.1–7.4 all show examples of a graph with a repeating pattern; that is, they are graphs of periodic functions. In such cases the variable measured along the horizontal axis is nearly always time t, while the other variable plotted could be the strength of an electronic signal, the output of a system or the displacement of a body from a fixed point, to mention just a few of the many possibilities.
