At the end of this chapter you should be able to:

    Differentiate between various forms of treatment available for mental disorders;

  2. 2.

    Relate those treatments to the various models or approaches to psychology from which they are derived;

  3. 3.

    Discuss research that indicates which treatment may be beneficial for a specific form of mental disorder;

  4. 4.

    Discuss the concept of ‘cure’ in relation to mental disorders;

  5. 5.

    Evaluate different forms of accommodation available to patients and clients who are undergoing treatment for mental disorders.
