Caring for Older People

Abstract

The complexity of anatomy and function of the nervous system results in confusion between the normal ageing process and pathological processes. The most common health problems of the neurological system are presented in this chapter. Cerebrovascular accident, Parkinson’s disease and acute and chronic brain syndromes, including dementia of the Alzheimer type, are discussed, with special emphasis on rehabilitative measures.
