Abstract
As age increases, the amount of calories needed to maintain health decreases. The current recommended intake in the United Kingdom is, for men aged 65 to 74, 2400 kcal (10MJ), falling to 2150 (9MJ) from the age of 75; for women, the equivalents are 1900 kcal (8MJ), and 1680 (7MJ).1
