Chapter
Part of the How to Study Literature book series

Abstract

When you begin to put together an essay or project for media or communication studies, it is important that you appreciate, at the outset, what you are trying to achieve. This can be summed up in a single formula: in any essay or project you are trying to build a clear argument either from the evidence of a media text itself or from your analysis of an important media issue. If you follow the advice in this chapter, you will be able to research, prepare and write fluent, coherently-argued essays which will be analytical and personal responses to the topic you have to address.
