Abstract
When we listen to harmonic complex sounds we tend to hear them holistically. They appear as Gestalts to us. We do not normally hear the individual partials. However, if we first listen to one of the harmonics in isolation and then to the complex sound, we are able to perceive that harmonic within the complex stimulus.
