Abstract
As an introduction to the general discussion on speech performance I would like to suggest a few possible topics to be discussed which are related to the papers of this session. All contributions to the session on speech performance have one way or another centered around SPEECH PROSODY, those aspects of speech which are also called suprasegmental (i.e. the domain of which is larger than the single vowel or consonant) and which can be characterized as the song or music of speech with reference to the original meaning of the word ‘prosody’.
