Negotiating Objectives

  • Alastair C. MacWillson

Abstract

This chapter looks at both the objectives of the hostage takers and of those authorities affected by such a problem. It examines the position the negotiator occupies in the overall resolution of the hostage-taking incident and the duties and responsibilities of the many other personnel with whom the negotiators may be working in such a situation.
