In-house Biotechnology in a Major Company: As Creative and Innovative as a Small Start-up?

Abstract

‘If I think about the sort of qualities which are important in running a biotech business, compared with other businesses, such as if I compare them with my time at Texas Instruments — the new skills I’ve needed in the healthcare and then biotechnology context — I don’t really believe they are significantly different. I think building high-growth, high-technology businesses from the general management perspective is very similar — the skills needed, the talent needed — whether it’s biotechnology, whether it’s electronics, whether it’s software or whatever.
