DVT and Pulmonary Embolus

  • Chapter
First on Call for Urology

Abstract

Most urological patients are, theoretically, in the “high risk” group for post-operative venous thrombosis, i.e. they are old, they often have cardiovascular disorders, they are usually frail and relatively immobile, and they are undergoing pelvic operations. Despite this, it is a post-operative complication that presents surprisingly uncommonly in urological wards.
