Abstract

We already know that there are two main ways in which the position of a point in a plane can be represented.
  1. (i)

    by Cartesian co-ordinates, i.e. (x,y)

  2. (ii)

    by polar co-ordinates, i.e. (r, θ).

The relationship between the two systems can be seen from a diagram.
