Abstract

The steering system provides a means of changing or maintaining the direction of a vehicle in a controlled manner. The functional requirements of the system are:

  1. 1.

    Driver effort should be minimal

  2. 2.

    it should provide ‘dowet feel’ without transmitting road shock loading back through the system to the stearing wheel.

  3. 3.

    tyre slip or suffing should be minimum.
