Forced Migration in Africa: An Overview of the Two Case Studies
Since the late 1950s the Gwembe Tonga have had to cope with involuntary resettlement in connection with the construction of the first mainstream dam on the Zambezi, with being frontline civilians during the war for Zimbabwean Independence, and, during the past fifteen years or so, with the near bankruptcy of the Zambian national economy. Scudder and Habarad examine how the Gwembe Tonga responded to such devastating events.
