Abstract

Efficient classroom management techniques constitute a major component of effective teaching. Such issues also represent important concerns for both teachers, parents and others in the local school community. In order to be effective in this area, it is important to consider the classroom management issue in terms of three separate phases. The first phase occurs before the students even arrive at the school. At this stage, the teacher should ensure that:

  • the classroom is appropriately arranged;

  • materials and supplies of stock will be adequate for the children’s use;

  • an adequate range and volume of activities have been planned for the children during the first week of school.
