Abstract
This is an account of homelessness and sojourning people. It reflects my personal involvement and experiences during more than four decades in the field of refugees and migration on both the national and international scenes. It extends from the latter months of the Second World War, when Europe was teeming with millions of displaced persons and prisoners of war, to the time of writing, when asylum countries throughout the world are burdened with massive flows of refugees, whether economic or political, victims of conflict and persons needing migration assistance.
