Abstract
The ethnic classification of Senegal is done at a middle level of inclusion. The Wolof and the Serer might be grouped together in a more abstract schema. It should also be noted that although the Lebou are traditionally considered a branch of the Serer, they are mixed among and assimilating into the Wolof society. All of the ethnic groups in Senegal are predominantly Muslim and there is a high degree of cultural similarity between the groups.
