Abstract

Barings, the longest-established merchant bank in the City of London, its origins dating back to 1762, is an international group which provides merchant banking, financial advisory and investment management services to a wide range of clients. The group is independently owned: The Baring Foundation, a registered charity, is the ultimate shareholder. Investment management services are provided by subsidiaries and associates of Baring Investment Management Holdings Limited, one of the 2 principal subsidiaries of Barings pic, the group holding company. Baring Investment Management is responsible for UK pension fund clients only; international clients are managed by Baring International Investment Management (see previous entry).
