Part of the book series: Clinical Cancer Monographs ((CLCM))

Abstract

In the preceeding chapters the presentation, treatment and end results for all patients resident in the West Midlands Region, have been described in detail. In this chapter a number of variables have been evaluated for their impact on prognosis. The variables selected are those for which as full data as possible is available. The analysis has grouped the factors as clinical (age, sex, duration of symptoms), surgical (site of tumour, type of gastrectomy, surgical experience) and pathological (stage of disease). As in the previous chapters, prognosis has been determined in relation to overall survival.
