Among Those Who Knew Kipling

Abstract

This listing of Kipling’s family relations and acquaintances is necessarily briefer than it could be. I have not tried to prepare the usual biographical entry, but have rather attempted to indicate how the life of Rudyard Kipling intersected with each person named. This collection of information about Kipling’s associates — some of whom were more intimate than others, to be sure, and some of whom did not know Kipling for more than a relatively brief period of time — offers convenient cross-references to people and events in the Chronology itself. I have attempted in this section to minimise the repetition of facts that have already appeared in the Chronology.
