All them women belong to me

  • Danny Barker

When I first started playing, an old bass player and I became very friendly. He hustled lots of gigs for me and I learned a lot from him. This musician’s IQ averaged zero. All he was ever interested in was music, whiskey and women. Honestly, he did not know who was the president of the United States. I learned this listening to an argument he had with another musician who asked him just that question. He replied, “It don’t matter to me who is the president, or what his name is, the rotten son of a bitch. What’s the use of me knowing him? He ain’t gonna do a damn thing for me or you either, and whoever he is, he can kiss my ass.”
