Abstract

At the time of writing (early 1988) the number of clinics practising IVF in the U.K. is approaching 40. No two clinics operate in the same manner so that what follows is a general account of the procedures involved. Six stages may be listed (figure 4.1):

    In vitro fertilisation

     
  5. 5.

    Embryo culture

     
  6. 6.

    Embryo transfer into the uterus.
