Abstract

The study of living organisms in their natural surroundings or environment is called natural history. An important aspect of this study is external morphology or the science of external form of organisms. A naturalist will observe and record the external appearance and relative positions of body parts of an organism. A knowledge of the internal structure of organisms will involve the study of anatomy as outlined in Chapter 3.
