My School Friend, James Joyce

  • Judge Eugene Sheehy

Abstract

From September 1892, to June 1899, I was a pupil of Belvedere College, Dublin. James Joyce came to Belvedere from Clongowes Wood College and was in a class, one year ahead of me, for the Intermediate examinations. He was aloof, icy and imperturbable. He took pleasure, too, in baiting his masters and the Rector.
