Abstract

During the five decades from 1810 to 1860, economic theory grew rapidly. The important contributions of Ricardo and the subsequent attempts to develop or criticise his views set the scene for advanced treatment of several issues. Among these issues, the theory of value and distribution and that of money and of interest rates particularly were debated.
