Abstract

Throughout Chapter 1, the concept of political instability was referred to frequently. With respect to this study, what precisely does this concept suggest? In this study, the term ‘political instability’ is used to describe three distinct dimensions of political behaviour:

  1. (1)

    collective protest;

  2. (2)

    internal war; and

  3. (3)

    illegitimate executive transfer.
