The Anxious and Fearful Child

All children can be expected to show some signs of anxiety or fear at some time during their school career. The first problem for you as a teacher then is to decide the level at which a child’s anxiety or fears become severe enough to merit your intervention or referral to an outside agency. Before going on to suggest how you might come to such a decision, however, some clarification of the two terms and of the distinction between them is necessary.
