Abstract
There is no agreed definition of ‘analytical epidemiology’ so I will suggest my own ad hoc one, borrowing from the traditional definition of epidemiology:
Analytical epidemiology is the study of disease in defined groups of humans, for the purposes of ascertaining the relationships of various characteristics of these groups to the diagnosis, course or prognosis, and causes of their disorders.
